Eva in Robin Hood
Toronto’s most beloved theatrical villain will put away his hoop skirts and fright wigs this Christmas in favour of a badge.
Ross Petty, the theatrical producer whose villainy happily knows no bounds, has announced that this year’s edition of his annual Christmas panto will tackle the enduring legend of Robin Hood and His Merry Men in a show titled Robin Hood: The EnviroMENTAL Family Musical.
And while Petty has saved the worst for himself, slipping into character as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, he’s managed to fill Sherwood Forest with some impressive talent as wwell .
The Sound of Music’s Jeff Irving, for instance, will play the title role, with Canadian Idol’s Eva Avila cast as Maid Marion and the Royal Canadian Air Farce’s Jessica Simpson as the Good Fairy of Sherwood Forest.
And while We Will Rock You’s Yvan Pedneault dons the tights of a Merry Man, Dan Chameroy drags himself back to the Toronto stage to reprise his performance as Plumbum von Botox, a girl who apparently survived Cinderella and is now serving as Maid Marion’s guardian.
Robin Hood opens Dec. 4 in the Elgin Theatre and tickets, priced from $55, are now on sale through Ticketmaster at 416-872-5555
